Getting in early with a Salty moment of the week: Looking at you Laurie Daley. Firstly, you somehow confused Kiwi Casey McLean for 46-year-old Queenslander Casey McGuire (famous for trying to scrap Monty Betham at Ericsson Stadium) in your NSW team, then you explain Jacko Ford hasn’t been picked because you wanted the option of a prop that could play on the edge, where did Jackson play before being turned into a prop my bro?
I just searched for NZ Warriors expecting to find nothing and then apparently found perhaps the only people on this app who can understand how amazing it is that the warriors have never lost with me in the crowd. It is a streak running over 20 years and four stadiums (Newcastle, Gold Coast, Brisbane and Mount Smart). I think it is only around 10-15 games all added up, but how many warriors fans have gone to that many games and never seen them lose!? Anyways, the win yesterday is the best one I have witnessed in person and I was feeling very nervous about my streak when Boyd went down.
Will be interesting, I felt that when Tanah left CHT disappeared, he seems to play best as a weapon or decoy rather than initiator, not sure who he would work better with TMM or Metcalf, will be interested to see tomorrow who they pick, wasn’t Metcalf in the game day squad 2 weeks ago?
Yep, LM was on the six-man bench for the Parramatta game.
I felt the same re: CHT - expected him to take control, but was a bit quiet. Not that he needed to do much more with the scoreboard ticking over and TMM looking comfortable
Love CHT and thought TMM was outstanding, but I just feel like if your half’s pair is CHT and TMM and CHT is doing your punting on the last tackle for distance, you need to change something, I don’t see that working against Penrith or in a semi-final.
Listening to that press conference, it sounds to me like Metcalf won't be playing for a week or two (maybe give him a couple of games in NSW Cup, it wouldn't hurt).
Looking beyond the next couple of weeks: TMM was awesome, probably the best game I can recall him playing. That said, I can't go past his 2024 form at halfback, where outside of that 3 game winning streak where he shined, he failed to provide direction which confirmed to me that he's a 6 or utility.
I reckon once Metcalf is up to speed, TMM will be the utility on the bench...unless of course yesterday's game is the start of a career best golden vein of form.
You'd think Te Maire will play this week at least - especially with the drama around Metcalf and lack of reps.
Totally agree re: TMM in 2024, had three great games then his limitations were exposed...has the weakest long kicking game of any half in the club I reckon.
I guess they need to settle on who's going to be consistent, durable and high-quality enough to take this team as far as it can go sans Boyd

"An old man turned ninety-eight
He won the lottery and died the next day
It's a black fly in your Chardonnay
It's a death row pardon two minutes too late
And isn't it ironic, don't you think?
A traffic jam when you're already late
A no-smoking sign on your cigarette break
It's like ten thousand spoons when all ya need is a knife
It's meeting the man of my dreams and then meeting his beautiful wife, hmm
And isn't it ironic?"

Always happy to be proved though.
