Andrew Webster was merely a wide-eyed NRL rookie coach when he rolled into Mount Smart Stadium about this time three years ago, returning to the club he formerly served as a first-grade assistant fresh off helping Ivan Cleary and Penrith to consecutive premiership triumphs.
The Warriors were taking their first tentative steps back at home after their harrowing three-year COVID odyssey – and Webby was gracious enough to grant This Warriors Life an hour of his time a couple of weeks before Xmas in 2022.
Webster has been the single most important figure in the Warriors’ remarkable turnaround since, taking the teams to two overachieving finals appearances in three seasons as the club achieved sporting juggernaut status.
Prior to attaining God-like status among the Wahs faithful, Webby’s chat with mere mortals Fonzie, Will and Brad is a fascinating time capsule…and it’s safe to say he’s done most of what he laid out in this conversation. He may be too big-time now to grace this podcast with his presence ever again…but we’ll always have this.
