The Warriors navigated a potential banana skin game in terrible conditions at Kogarah Oval to come away with a scrappy yet professional 30-12 victory over winless St George Illawarra on Saturday.
The six-tries-to-two win, just their third in 11 visits to the venue, rarely looked in doubt โ but it came despite the Warriors uncharacteristically finishing on the debit side in several key stats areas.
The Warriors had just 47 percent possession, while both teams made 15 errors โ leaving the team with the best completion rate in the NRL with just 70 percent completion โ and the visitors gave away eight set restarts to six.
The Dragons also won the offload (12-5) and tackle-break (30-25) counts.
But the Warriorsโ forward might came to the fore, winning the run metres (1,790 to 1,689) and post-contact metres (566 to 556) counts despite enjoying less ball, while they averaged 40.69 metres per set to the Saintsโ 38.39.
The Warriors iced their chances, with five of six line-breaks resulting in tries. The Dragons made only two line-breaks in total.
The Warriors have now been in the top two at the end of nine of the 12 rounds so far in 2026. The club has only been in first or second on the ladder at the end of 25 rounds in their 32-season history.
Warriors chase the class of โ02
The 2026 Warriors have become just the second team in the clubโs history to win nine of their first 11 games, following in the footsteps of the trailblazing 2002 combination โ who ultimately went 11-2 before dropping their third game.
Meanwhile, the Warriors have pieced together a six-match winning streak for just the fourth time ever. They first achieved the feat during a soft part of their 1995 foundation season draw, before winning a club record eight in a row in 2002.
Websterโs charges chalked up seven straight victories during the watershed 2023 campaign.
