The Warriors are 5-2 for just the sixth time in their history after a patchy 28-20 win over Gold Coast– snapping a three-match losing streak at Mount Smart Stadium against the Titans.

The Warriors rocketed to a 22-0 halftime lead, equalling their season-high first-half points tally against Sydney Roosters in Round 1. Their six points in the second 40 minutes was their second-lowest in the second half in 2026 (they scored four in the Round 4 loss to Wests Tigers).

After holding a team scoreless in the first half for the first time since Round 11 last year against the Dolphins, the 20 points the Warriors conceded in the second stanza was their worst defensive effort after the break since leaking 20 against the Panthers in Round 16 last season.

A rarity in 2026, the Warriors finished with less possession (49 percent), the run metres (Warriors 1,716-1,671) and post-contact metres (Titans 538-521) counts finished close to even, and the Titans held favour with the refs in terms of penalties (4-3) and set restarts (7-4).

Tackle-breaks (44-25) errors (6-13) finished well in the Warriors’ favour and they made seven line-breaks to six, while average set distance (41.85 metres to 38.86) was a key advantage.

While the game-of-two-halves win left fans feeling a tad underwhelmed, it was an important victory in a banana skin game – and several rivals weren’t so lucky. In Round 7, only four favourites prevailed; of those four, just one (South Sydney) covered the points start with the bookies.

You complete me

The Warriors completed at 87 percent (36 from 41 sets) to the Titans’ 72 percent (31 from 43 sets), with the comparative error counts having a notable impact on the match.

The ability of Andrew Webster’s team to be disciplined with the ball while still being adventurous enough to keep the scoreboard ticking over has been central to their early-season success.
