WARRIORS 1995-2025 BOOK CHAPTER MENU
Australian John Monie, who garnered a ‘supercoach’ reputation after title-winning stints at Parramatta and Wigan, fulfilled the fledgling Auckland Warriors’ quest for an experienced, high-profile mentor. But after a promising initial season, Monie’s stocks plummeted and he was replaced by reserve grade understudy Frank Endacott midway through 1997. Long-serving New Zealand Test coach Endacott was ousted following the ownership change at the end of 1998, with Kiwis legend Mark Graham taking the reins for a tumultuous two-season tenure.
